On March 29, the New York Times reported that there are two lawsuits in development: WWE concussions lawsuit and Overlawyred - lawsuit names Dolan and WWE. The New York Times reports that the lawsuit will seek compensation for the hundreds of thousands of concussions suffered by wrestlers, as well as money owed to plaintiffs who have filed lawsuits against WWE. The lawsuits do not seek damages for deaths caused by wrestling, or death of wrestlers.

The company is responsible for the WWE (pronounced "Wayne") brand, which includes pay-per-views, television shows, and various products including clothing. On January 6, 2020, a WWE wrestler was killed in an automobile accident. WWE released a statement saying that the wrestler, Chris Benoit, suffered from bipolar disorder and had a recent suicide attempt. He had been wrestling since he was twelve years old. The WWE statement noted that the company would investigate whether Benoit's death was caused by a wrestling-related injury or by another cause.

According to the New York Times, the lawsuits will not seek damages for the deaths caused by wrestling. However, the lawsuits may seek to obtain compensation for medical costs suffered by wrestlers who sustain injuries while wrestling and other injuries that occur from working at WWE events. and traveling to other arenas. As previously noted, WWE is not responsible for deaths caused by working at its events. WWE concussions lawsuit funding is sought through private funding sources and should not be expected to require any type of legal representation from an attorney. However, there may be questions about the legal validity of funding sources seeking to fund this type of lawsuit because the funds are provided by private companies who have an interest in the success of the lawsuit. <
